The Farm
Dayspring farm is an amazing place. Located in the Skymont community on top of the plateau, we have all the things that make this area of Tennessee so beautiful. Beautiful rolling pastures provide wonderful habitat for our farm animals. The six lakes and ponds provide fun fishing opportunities and are home to our ducks and a variety of wild ducks and other waterfowl. Wildlife abounds. We have sighted deer, wild turkeys, quail, rabbits, coyotes, skunks, opossums, armadillos and even a bear. The mix of pasture and woods provides a great variety of ways for us all to coexist.
A ravine runs through middle of the property and allows us to witness all the amazing topography so prevalent in this region. Amazing geological layers, creeks, waterfalls, secluded pools, caves and bluffs are all present. Tennessee wildflowers, unique mushrooms and fungus and an ever-changing variety of sights make hiking interesting and fun. At the base of our bluff is a pathway that was used as part of the Underground Railroad before the Civil War so there is history here, too.
Our responsibility for this land is a trust we hold dear. To that end, we have worked closely with the US Soil Conservation Service to develop a plan and implement measures to help conserve this area and improve its sustainable resources. We also are developing a solar project to help promote sustainable energy practices.
